DIABETIC? Having Problems With Leg Cramps?
67
A little over 5 years ago, I found out that I was Diabetic. One of the biggest problems I experienced was leg cramps. They'd usually happen at night, while I was asleep. I'd wake up with one (or sometimes both) calf muscles cramped as hard as rocks and I was in some of the worst pain I'd ever felt.
Rubbing your legs only makes it worse and I had absolutely NO idea of how to get rid of the pain. I've found that the only way to get the cramps to stop were to either wait them out, or to get out of bed and start walking.
The first time I tried walking, it seemed (for about 5-10 seconds) that it was making the cramps worse, but amazingly, within about 20-30 seconds they were gone!
But rather than getting rid of cramps, it's MUCH better to prevent them. The problem seems to be that Diabetes has a way of playing games with your potassium levels. So the idea is to keep your potassium levels where they need to be.
Bananas are known to be high in potassium levels, but for myself (and a lot of other people) they never really seemed to help.
Then one day I was talking with a friend who had been diabetic for a long time and he told me a "secret" that has virtually eliminated all of my problems with cramps. It's simple, inexpensive and delicious...
He said to start eating something that at the time, I was eating far to little of:
SALAD...
He told me to go to the grocery store and buy some fresh greens. Lettuce, Spinich and whatever else sounded good. He said make yourself a nice large GREEN Salad and get a bottle of some kind of vinagrette dressing (It's AMAZING how good Balsamic Vinegrette dressing tastes!!!) and chow down...
What a WONDERFUL way to medicate yourself!
I haven't had many "Miracles" in my life - but this REALLY Worked!!!
So if you're having problems with leg cramps, you might want to give it a try!
